Military Note Cards

These directions are included in the printable file pages 1 and 2.

These are Military Printable Military free printables Note Cards that can also be used as thank-you notes, or gift cards. These also work great for kids to write notes to send to family members who are in the military or you can use them as a teaching tool for kids to write notes to mail to our troops. There are many organizations that can be found online that help you with how to send thank-you notes to our soldiers.

This collection is in an Adobe Reader pdf file. The first 2 pages are instructions and creative ideas. The third page (page 3) is the envelope, and then there are 10 pages of different note cards. Note: You will need to print the envelope (page 3) as many times as needed. That is, when you print the entire file (all 13 pages) you will get 2 pages of direction, only 1 envelope and 10 note cards. Most printers provide a prompt for selecting which pages you want to print or how many copies to print of each page. All printers vary, so please refer to your printer manual for help. However, if you still need help, go to www.adobe.com  or contact us for help at www.MyMomsBreak.com, and use the Contact Us form. If your printer is also a copier (such as the “all-in-one” type printers that print, scan, and copy), then as an option, you can print one envelope from the pdf file, and then make as many copies as you need.

Making the Envelope

We suggest that you print the envelope on card stock paper, which is a little heavier than regular computer printer paper. Card stock is available in a variety of colors and can be purchased at an office supplies store such as Office Depot or Staples. However, you can print the envelope on regular 8-1/2 x 11 computer paper. Use any plain color.

1) Cut out the envelope by cutting along the dotted line.
2) The fold lines are solid lines (seen in light gray on the envelope).
3) Fold Flap B inward, along the fold line, on both sides.
4) Fold Flap C up and over the two B flaps. Glue or tape Flap C to the two B flaps. Be sure to glue or tape the flaps so that you create a “pocket” on the inside for the note card. Allow glue to dry before inserting note card.
5) After the card is inserted, fold Flap A down over Flap C, and glue or tape closed.

Although the envelope has been tested mailed without any problem, we cannot guarantee mail delivery as it is a homemade envelope.

Making the Note Card

Print your choice of note card pages (if you haven't already printed all of them; see your printer manual for how to print specific pages in the file). Cut out the note card along the solid lines. The part of the note card with the image on it is the inside of the note card. There is a light gray line to show you where to fold the card in half so that it will fit in the envelope.

Suggestions for What Paper to Use and How to Decorate the Card

We suggest that you print the note cards on decorative scrap-booking paper, preferably scrap-booking paper that is plain white on one side. Print the note card so that the image prints on the plain white side of the paper (you may need to refer to your printer manual for help, or just experiment with one piece of paper so that you know how to put the scrap-booking paper into the printer so that the card image prints on the plain side).

Another option is to print the cards on colored stationery paper, preferably a plain color. However, if you want to use stationery paper that is decorated on one side, you should print the card so that the image is on the plain side.

You can also print the card on plain white paper or any other color or regular printer paper.

If your child will be sending the note, then have him/her write a note on the side with the image, and then use crayons, colored pencils, or markers to draw a picture on the other side.

Use your imagination to personalize the card! You can decorate the other side of the card with stickers or even cut pictures out of magazines to make a colorful collage. If you are familiar with how to scan and print photos, then print some of the family (or a favorite pet), in various sizes. Cut out the photos and use a glue stick to attach to the back of the note card.

You can also cut out a piece of colored construction paper, the same size as the actual card, and glue to the back of the card. This will give the card more stability, especially if you are using it as a birthday card.

Since it is a half-fold card, you can fold the card to mark the crease, re-open the card, and then write on just the lower half of the card. Decorate or even glue a family photo to the top half. Fold and insert into the envelope. When the recipient opens the note, there will be a picture on the top and a personal note on the bottom.

Have fun with these Military Note Cards!
